How to Schedule the SAFE MLO Test with NMLS and Prometric
You enroll for the SAFE MLO Test through your NMLS account and then schedule with Prometric. The test fee is US$110 (NMLS, as at 11 Oct 2026).
Steps
- Log in to NMLS and complete the test enrollment, paying the fee.
- Schedule your appointment with Prometric at a test center. Online proctored testing is only for candidates who qualify for testing accommodations (since October 1, 2024).
- Make sure the name on your government-issued photo ID matches your NMLS record exactly.
- If you must change the appointment, do it no later than 11:59 p.m. Eastern two business days before; missing that cut-off can forfeit the enrollment and fee.

Book when you consistently pass full, timed practice exams with questions you have not seen before. Many candidates choose a date two to four weeks out so they have a fixed target.
